Retreat Reservations & Payment:
Because Beach Shack Writers is working in partnership with Hilton Head Beach & Tennis resort, your Blast from the Past retreat payment is a two part process.
Lodging: Reservations and payment for your Beach Shack Writers retreat villa is made through the resort, Hilton Head Beach & Tennis. When you call the resort, ask for Carolyn our resort reservations liaison, and she will create your reservation. The resort has its own policies for reservations, payment and cancellation.

Beach Shack Writers: Your Beach Shack Writers retreat fee is $400 for a five night stay and $500 for a seven night stay. A deposit of 50% is required at the time of reservation. The second 50% is due two weeks prior to arrival. You will receive PayPal email invoices for each half of your fee. Beach Shack Cancellation policy: Your first 50% deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel two weeks or less prior to the event, the second 50% is also non-refundable.
General Information
When are Beach Shack Writers retreats offered?
Our private, personal five-night writing retreats are offered from late August through early April when the bustling summer tourist season has ended and the island is peaceful and quiet once more. It’s truly the perfect place and the perfect time for a private writing retreat. Extended seven night stays are possible based on villa availability.
What’s the weather like during the off-season?
The off-season weather on the island is absolutely gorgeous: sunny and mid-70s, and even when it does get a bit chilly, the word winter rarely comes to mind.
What’s included in my Beach Shack Writers retreat package?
Your 5 Night Beach Shack Week Package includes: Welcome Cocktail Meet & Greet; Morning Beach Walks, Nightly Happy Hour Gatherings at the on site Coconutz Sports Bar & Grill; a Welcome Gift Bag, and a free 5-day bike rental. Private editorial development services and sessions are available upon request and charged separately.
What are my accommodation choices?
Our 5 Night retreats feature one bedroom, ocean view villas with full kitchens and direct beach access. Via our partnership with the wonderful folks at Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort, a full-service beachfront island resort, Beach Shack Writers reside in resort-managed villas and have full access to all of the resort amenities, including an attendant-supervised gym, a full service sports bar and restaurant, the largest swimming pool on the island and, of course, the beach is your backyard.
Our director lives year-round at the resort and all retreat activities take place on site.
How do I get to Hilton Head Island?
Those coming by plane have the option of flying into Savannah, GA. (a 45 minute drive to the Island), or directly into Hilton Head Airport. There are numerous car rental agencies at both airports, and Hilton Head has great cab service.
What do I do when I’m not writing?
In addition to pristine beaches and an abundance of nature to explore, the Island’s amenities include wonderful local restaurants, night spots and coffee shops. There’s also a Barnes & Noble Bookstore, several wonderful day spas, and a plethora of specialty shops.
