The primary mission of Beach Shack Writers is to provide an inspiring writing experience that offers as much solitude as each writer may desire along with the opportunity to experience Hilton Head Island’s unique beauty, history, and culture.
As your director, Beach Shack Writers creator, Cindy Whitman -- a graduate of the Bennington MFA Writing Seminars and the recipient of residency fellowships from The Cottages at Hedgebrook, the Vermont Studio Center, and the UCross Foundation -- has an intimate knowledge and understanding of what makes a writing retreat both evocative and effective.
