The primary mission of Beach Shack Writers is to provide an inspiring writing retreat environment that offers as much solitude as each visiting writer may desire while also providing the opportunity to experience Hilton Head Island’s unique beauty, history, and culture. As your director, Beach Shack Writers creator, Cindy Whitman -- a graduate of the Bennington MFA Writing Seminars and the recipient of residency fellowships from The Cottages at Hedgebrook, the Vermont Studio Center, and the UCross Foundation -- has an intimate knowledge and understanding of what makes a writing residency both evocative and effective.
In addition to individual, private writing retreats, Beach Shack Writers also offers group retreats, writing workshops, and private developmental editorial services.
